Version 2020

Feature highlights

Our December 2020 release marks the first in our 'Long Term Support' (LTS) software versioning program.

Every 6 - 12 months, we'll bundle up a bunch of new features and non-critical fixes, and release them all as the latest official version.

LTS releases ensure that our customers can take advantage of new functionality regularly, knowing it's been exhaustively tested and comes complete with thorough documentation and even demo videos.

What's new for Summer 2020?

New B2B Payment Features

Our Customer Self Service platform already allows your users to opt for their payment details to be remembered at checkout, but a new feature now allows payment 'tokens' to be created and managed at a Customer level. This means that multiple users attached to one account code can pay their account in a flash - no more re-entering the same card details time and again! Especially handy for organisations with multiple Accounts Payable staff who might login at different times to pay company invoices. We can also use this token to automatically charge customers for their invoices as the orders are shipped.

Note that this feature is only available to sites using eWay's payment gateway.

Reporting Enhancement Never underestimate the value of effective reporting! Give your staff the power to generate up-to-date reports on products, stock, payments, receipts, and more. Our enhanced reporting allows you to not only customise and run reports at any time, but to schedule them as well. A scheduled report will run automatically and be emailed to nominated recipients, delivering business insights and actionable data to the people who need it.

Fraud Prevention - Deposit for Pickup If you sell high value items that are prone to illicit resale, a policy of in-person payment on pickup orders may be what your business needs. A physical credit card used at the point of sale is far more difficult to use fraudulently, which is why we've added this new fraud prevention option to our eCommerce platform. For pickup orders, your website can charge just a deposit at checkout. The customer then pays the balance in person when they collect the order. This eliminates goods being purchased online using stolen credit card numbers, as the customer will need to use the PIN to complete the transaction in-store.

Universal Freight API We've done some fancy (but invisible) things with code to give you far more flexibility with your freight. Our Customer Self Service platform has been extended to connect to a wide range of external freight providers, such as Sendle, Couriers and Freight, Machship, Sherpa, and more.

By connecting directly to the carrier's API, you can feed custom pricing and freight data straight from your provider in real time.

More Freedom with Article Layouts Your Commerce Vision website comes pre-equipped with an Article template, but that doesn't mean you can't get creative with it! While the option to design and edit your own templates has been available in the CMS for some time, we've now added the ability to customise layouts at an individual article level.

So if you just need one small layout tweak for this one particular article, you can now do it (without having to create a whole new template).

This helps keep your template list down to a manageable size, and gives you the flexibility to customise the layout to suit your individual pieces of content.

Content Search Why limit your users to just product results when they search content on your site? Our search engine has been enhanced so that it's now able to index content on your website. This means you can now make product guides, blog articles, and all your other rich content discoverable in search.
